An explanation…

So if you have been following my blog for a while you might have noticed that I have not quite been present on this site for a little while.  I have managed to get some posts up but things have been a little different…

For the last 8 months or so I have been trying to find out what is going on with my digestive system.  I have been sick and a little out of it.  After a plethora of tests last week it was finally confirmed that I had SIBO (a bacterial overgrowth in my digestive system).  I will save you all the gory details but it has meant that my body has not been digesting food properly for a long long time… and has caused memory, balance and cognitive issues along with the digestive stuff.

So for the next 3-4 weeks this is my daily routine…

ah the pills

…with all the joys of side effects.  My hope is that the side effects will lessen as my body becomes used to the drugs but for now I have to admit defeat.  I am sick and loopy and not able, despite my best efforts, to quilt or sew.

So if you will excuse me for the next couple of weeks, I will get some of my Hodge Podge blocks up in the coming weeks but it will be an erratic process.  I have the best intentions but often my body does not let me do what I need to do.

Once I am out of the hazy I can promise you I will play catch up… I have some great quilt top finished, including my Lizzy House butterfly and my Atlantic Sea quilt and some exciting ideas for new quilts.  I promise to share it all, soon.

  1. Good luck and feel better soon! My son and a aunt has this and they feel much better after medication! There is light at the end of the medicine tunnel 😊

  2. I enjoy your posts so much I’ll definitely wait patiently for your return to health, though I’ll miss your creativity and inspiration meanwhile. I hope your medicine’s intended positive effects happen NOW and the side effects disappear NOW too! Digestive disturbances are horrible to go through. I admit to being a bit apprehensive about my feelings of inadequacy that might result from your posting in great health since I so admire your accomplishments while in misery!)

  3. From France (as I am a French woman)… I wish you to recover soon.
I love very much what you make and I would like to see quilt or yours quickly. It will be a proof that you are well again.
    Kisses from France

    Sorry for my poor English

  4. I will miss your fun posts but hope your medication makes you feel better. Can’t have been easy to do all you do while not feeling well! Take care of yourself!

  5. Take care of yourself Cath! Your health is more important than the blog. I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn for my fellow blog followers when I say we’ll all be ending our best wishes your way and we’ll all be here when you come back!

  6. I wish you a rapid and full recovery, we’re all rooting for you. I’ve had a bit of experience with SIBO treatments, it’s one of the things they thought I had before they finally came through with the celiac diagnosis. Lots of pills… But when it works, you’ll start to feel much better and the fog will clear. We, and sewing can wait. Sending you a big dose of clarity and optimism xxx(((o)))xxx.

  7. Sending you lots of get well ((HUGS)) and hope your medicine helps you to get better soon. Take care on your road to recovery…

  8. I hope you get well fast. I had problems for years found it was my diabetes meds causing a lot of it, so I hope you don’t have too many side effects. Rest and take care of yourself.

  9. I’ll hope you get well soon!! You are a wonderful surprise every monday on the mailbox. Thaks for all and lot of aims from Spain.

  10. In the 10 characteristics of “Wombats” was this tidbit…
“Wombats have slow metabolisms. It takes a wombat up to 14 days to digest a meal. This slow metabolism helps them out in their hot and dry habitat.’ Seemed sort of coincidental. I’m glad you got a diagnosis. All the tests are miserable. Take care and your fans will be here. Wombats are TOUGH!!

  11. Your health is the most important thing right now, i look forward to more new and exciting things when you are better . Good luck my friend xx

  12. Sorry to hear that you are sick. You might get enjoyment from making a wonky log cabin block or two. Fabric play might give you a creative outlet. Hang in there.

  13. I am so sorry you are like this, I fixed mine with Manuka Honey, it is a bit more expensive then regular honey to buy but well worth it, one spoonful straight in the mouth first thing in the morning, no sugar allowed, just the honey to sweeten stuff and withing a week I started feeling better! Manuka Honey is made from bees in New Zealand and it has wonderful properties and all natural! Antibiotics just made me feel worse as it killed both good and bad bacteria so I was stuck! But the Manuka honey worked, be careful though, as no two honeys are the same, it is something in the Manuka flower that makes it so special. It is used in hospitals here to fix infection where the antibiotic has no effect anymore! Let me know if it works for you! Take care, Tina

  14. Prayers for your return to good health!! Take care of you…we’ll be here whenever you can get back to us. We’ll miss you, but your health and sanity are much more important!!!

  15. Oh my goodness .. curly ones He sends us! Prayers and hugs for a speedy recovery. Rest .. rest ..rest .. see you when the fog has lifted 🙂

  16. Well its not funny that you’re ill, you not posting actually gives me a chance to catch up on some of your designs that I’ve been saving. Please take care of yourself. I’ll suffer through Wombat Quilt Withdrawal but thats’s nothing compared to your malady. Yours requires medication, mine requires more fabric. Be well!
