Paper piecing Monday just did not happen yesterday. After spending 5 days celebrating Russian Christmas with friends at Hood River we got home late last night and I just could not get my act together enough to post. I blame the vodka, the lack of sleep and the rip snorting good time I had. So without further ado here is Paper Piecing Monday’s latest block…
I like the pointy light green spike behind the dark green star. I used the lightest greens for the background points so they almost fade into the sky….
I branched away from the triangle blocks this week and went with simple square components. You can find the free pattern here….Star petal I promise the PDF has a numbered pattern, unlike the one in the photograph! I once again blame the vodka!
Green is one of my favourite colors and I like that you combined it with the different back and white fabrics. I’m curiously looking forward to see the joined blocks 🙂
I love this-thanks for the link to the pattern.
Thank you for the star petal(27 January2015) not sure if its the vodka but the pdf is not appearing when link is clicked! I really enjoy your posts and have enjoyed those stars I’ve made so far. I really like the look of this one.
Shirley. If you are trying to link from the email there might be an issue. You should be able to click the link from the website…I just did some test runs and it worked. Let me know if you can’t access it and I will send you the PDF.
Yes its available from the website. however, all the others have been very accessible from the email. Thanks Shirley x x x
Yes my little mistake yesterday meant I had to go in and number the pattern which broke the link. I will be more careful next time.
I’ve just learned about paper piecing and LOVE it! I’ve struggled with seams lining up and getting my points correct! thanks for the pattern, can’t wait to try it out!
Well, it was worth the wait. 😀
Love this block ~ I’m trying my hand at improv and want it to be all stars ~ this could work (yes, I’m controlling it a bit)! So glad you had a great time!
I’m surprised the star’s not wonkier, considering… Another lovely one to add to the collection.
Hooray for good friends, beautiful Hood River and Vodka!! Thanks for the star. I love reading your blog.
I love how all the greens are different, gives it so much texture and depth.
This is so pretty! I’m trying to picture what it would look like with different colors…might have to play with some colored pencils!
I love your blog and star patterns, but there were no numbers on the one I printed out. I can figure it out, but some people may be confused. Kathy
Kathy. Thank you for reaching out and letting me know. I amended the pattern first thing this morning to add numbers…again blaming the vodka. The link now has a numbered pattern.
Russian Christmas sounds like fun!
what is the finished size of this? I am new to paper piecing and can’t work it out in my head. 🙂
This block is a 12 1/2 inches unfinished for a 12 inch finished block. Make sure that you download the pattern and when you print that you are NOT printing scale to fit. Always measure the paper pattern before you start seeing to make sure it has printed the right size.
I have to amend my last comment. This block is 8 1/2 inches. Sorry. Most of my other stars are 12 inches finished but the green stars are all smaller. N
