Today’s block is a very simple block, is really easy to make but really effective…
Just twelve easy pieces and you get a fabulous twisting pin wheel star. I can definitely see a quilt made out of a larger version of this block… The free PDF pattern for this 8 inch star can be found here…swirling star
This is block 11, if I am counting right. I need to start thinking about what I want to do with these blocks and how many I need to make. Usually 12 blocks is enough but as these are smaller blocks I feel I need more… should I make a few more or move onto something else?
I like how simple the piecing is for this star but how complicated it looks when assembled. Very nice!
This is my first pattern. How can I get the first 10?
Helen they are all in the site. You can find them by selecting the free paper piecing tab or by using the search categories function and selecting “paper piecing Monday”. Let me know if you have any problems.
Love all your stars and always looking forward to the next one, so keep going!
Its so effective and anything green has me from the start 🙂
It is funny but green is usually a colour I try and stay away from… we have a long family history of disasters surrounding wearing green so I am cautious of it as a colour…but I am loving how fresh it is with the low volume background. I may be slowly getting over my fear of green!
One of the few paper piecing blocks I’ve ever done, and it worked just fine! Yours, of course, is much tidier. I’m looking forward to seeing the green stars all together. In my mind, I’ve been calling this quilt Emerald Stars, because of the beautiful greens…
Oh I like the name Emerald Stars…I am borrowing it.
It’s yours! I like the idea of emeralds glittering against the pale background….
Keep going, I love seeing new posts from you!
I agree, selfishly- keep going so we get more eye candy 😉
This block is gorgeous! Maybe my favorite block ever, that’s how much I like it 🙂 thank you for sharing!
