Last year the Modern Quilt Guild did a fabric challenge using Michael Miller fabric. If you follow me you will have seen a few quilts with this fabric in it, including my own Challenge entry. When our Guild handed out the fabric to its members we said that if anyone was so inclined they could use their Challenge scraps to make some blocks for the charity program. This is one of the resulting quilts…
This beautiful quilt was pieced and quilted by the wonderful Cris Pera, who is this years Guild Programs Co-ordinator.
Cris took the Michael Miller Challenge blocks and made this darling sampler quilt… using white sashing to bring the blocks together.
The blocks are all so different and there is so much amazing piecing in each block…
But I love how they all come together to make a lovely coherent quilt because they are all using the same fabric line. There should be at least one more of these quilts finished up by the end of the year…fingers crossed!
The quilt is awesome! Love the variety of blocks she used.
The skill involved in making such a subtle quilt from such a bright collection of fabrics is awe inspiring. The wide white sashing is a stroke of genius.
Great point. I had not thought about well Cris did in toning things down. It makes the quilt so much prettier I think.
What a super quilt. All the blocks are so different and beautifully made. Well done.
Fresh, fun and fabulous, not to mention some gorgeous blocks. Lovely work.
It is great looking and a far better use of the fabrics than what I accomplished.
This is a beautiful quilt! And I looked at your challenge quilt, the log cabin, …simply gorgeous!
Thanks.
What a gorgeous quilt! I’d hate to give it away, but since it’s going to a wonderful cause – my thanks to Cris on behalf of the recipients for such a generous offering. Thanks for sharing, Cath.
It’s really divine – such great colors. I loved that fabric when we did the challenge. It doesn’t surprise me that Cris was able to create something so beautiful. She’s incredible.
