So here is my fourteenth green star block… and I can not believe that there are so many already…
As promised it is more complex than last weeks with 32 pieces but still less than some of my bigger star blocks!
The free PDF for this star can be found here…Lonely Star Pattern. If I was to make this star again I think I would alternate the light and dark greens more, as you would in a traditional Lone Star quilt.
Oh and as promised here is a shot of most of the stars so far (12 out of the 14)…
I am still not sure what I am going to do with them all but a plan is brewing…. I was really inspired by the QuiltCon quilts I have seen on Instagram…so there will be negative space and an off grid layout I think!
i love them even more when seeing them all together. I think they deserve to be a full quilt with negative space and sublime quilting. Glad to see some dots but the muted background is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mary…they are quilt a nice collection when all together and I am liking the idea of negative space to give them some room to shine (pun intended!)
Lovely! All sorts of layouts suggest themselves, but I want to see what you’ve got in mind!
I will let you know when I get something in mind… at the moment it is a collection of endless possibilities!
I’m sort of hoping you’ll continue your current enthusiasm for tiny weeny blocks and make some weeny stars to sprinkle among the big ones…. But I trust your vision to make whatever you’re planning just beautiful.
they are just stunning laying there together…the fabric choices are just beautiful – they pop right off the page! Can’t wait to see what you do to put it all together 🙂
Whatalotta zing you’ve given us! I particularly love the background fabrics in the new star.
These are phenomenal, Cath! Really striking alone, and even more so when all together. I’m sure you’ve mentioned it before, but what is the finished size on each of the blocks?
Kim they are all 8 inch blocks.
These are so gorgeous.
They look great!
These are coming along so fabulously! I Love your idea of alternating lights and darks in a nod to the Lobe Star block. I think that would look great too! Found myself printing out a bunch of your bitty PP Papers last night. Thanks for sharing them.
They are amazing all together…and so much work! QuiltCon photos inspired many of us I think!
Definitely Quiltcon worthy!!
The look gorgeous. Have fun picking the last ones and designing the layout!
I love the green. So fresh looking.
Love this quilt. Looks like fun to make all those stars.
How lovely to see all (ok, most of) the stars together. I see something that is going to come together beautifully!
By accident I found your great blog. I now want to thank you for all the wonderful paper piecing patterns that you are sharing. Greetings from Barbara
Beautiful blocks!
