It is week two of my new sampler quilt and I once again went to Julie’s fabulous free Block Rock’n patterns. The pattern for this week is called Icky Thump, and with a name like that I had to make it.
It is a simple pattern in just four pieces (as opposed to a lot of the stars I have recently made which are 8 pattern pieces). Just 24 fabric pieces to make this block, but it still looks complex and interesting. I think a quilt of these blocks would be spectacular, but for now I am settling for adding just one block to my new sampler quilt.
Now I am off to the post office. I have packages of scraps to send to Australia and 5 inch charm blocks to head to out for a rainbow charm swap.
I LOVE those colors together, this block is awesome.
I had my eye on this block before, and I too love it in these colors!
Cath – this block is awesome and it would me a great quilt! 24 pieces of fabric seems so manageable after so many of your stars 🙂 I’m really digging your color scheme for your new sampler!
Thanks Ashley. I like having some more variety in my colour scheme than last time. I did get a little sick of red/aqua by the end!
You are totally rocking these! Loving the color palette 😉
Love your block! The colours are great!!
Amazing! I love the colors and the design. Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing.

beautiful colors and LOVE the block! It almost looks like the star is floating. it’s stunning!

Thanks. I really like this pattern and can see myself using it again and again.
That is a really neat block! I’ve just started dabbling in paper piecing and I love it!
Paper piecing is fabulously addictive once you start.
Wow, another great block! I love how you used a bunch of different prints but it all works because of the different values. You’re inspiring me to do more paper piecing!
Thanks Cari. I really do love a good paper piecing pattern.
I realllly like this one and the colors are gorgeous!
I’m curious to see if the block’s designer and namer is a Goodies or Goon fan. 🙂
I immediately thought of the Goodies Icky Thump and Bill Oddie with his truncheon. But as it is a music based paper piecing series, so I unfortunately think it is the White Stripes.
I am sure the White Stripes must have been classic comedy fans!
LOVE these colors – thanks so much for linking 🙂
Beautiful! I love the colours you’ve used for it!
The disco dots in teal! Woohoo for sparkle!
Always try and slip some sparkle in when possible and disco dots is perfect for that subtle bit of glitz.
