100 Blocks seems like a lot…

Last year I attempted to take part in the 100 days 100 blocks quilt along. I started out strong posting 4 blocks on four consecutive days on Instagram then life got in the way…

100 block 1

I had not attempted a Quilt Along (QAL) before… it is not that I am not a joiner, I just do not do well with enforced schedules….

I do love the idea of being given a structure to work to but trying to make a block a day can be a hard practice to get into….

I have made a quilt using Tula Pink’s 100 Blocks book before. I did not make all the blocks the first time and it was the same this time…

There are some blocks in the book that I look at and think life is too short….

But since the quilt along finished I have been making a block here and there….

I am now up to 48 blocks which is enough for a quilt I think….

I am not sure what I will do with them… actually, if I am honest, I am not sure where I have stashed them at the moment…

I put them somewhere safe and I can not find them…

Do not judge me… things got a little crazy a few months ago when our teenager moved back in with us…

and my stash and bits had to be hauled out of the spare bedroom…

I think this may be the one and only QAL I do… it will take an extra ordinary project to make me want to repeat this experience…

We are up and running again…sort of

This week I have been trying to sort out what is going on with my laptop. I have a work around while my computer expert (i.e. the husband) works out what the cat has actually done! In between the computer dramas I have been playing with some wonderful fabric from Monaluna’s Haven range. The PMQG is doing a fun fabric challenge with this pretty line….

I decided to make some modern 12 inch blocks and just went for it… I used a couple of blocks from “Modern Blocks” including Louise Papa’s Everything Equal block…

and Faith Jone’s Boxed In block…

and Yvonne Malone’s Seeing Double block..

I also did a little improv triangle play…

and finally I did a block that used a block from Tula Pink’s City Sampler book.

A colour dilema…

A couple of days ago I realized that January was slowly slipping away and I had not managed to tick any projects off my 2014 To Do List. Drastic action was needed so I pulled out my Tula Pink blocks and got to work. I made the final couple of blocks, put them up on the design wall and stared at them for a day (very constructive use of time I hear you say).

I blame my husband for the delay, actually I blame him for a lot of things, but this was really his fault. You see last year when I started this project he did this…

It made me laugh at the time but when it came time to put the top together using just pink blocks something seemed to be missing. The layout with the Tardis was fun but it took away from the Tula Pink feel of the quilt. I then made this…

I thought a blue Tula Block would work but it just did not seem to have the same impact as a Tardis. In the end I have chosen to go with all pink blocks. I have added 1 1/2 inch sashing around the blocks and I am slowly sewing it together.
